Pest Management Association of New Zealand
Lead organisation:
Pest Management Association of New Zealand
A Continuing Professional Development programme is being established to support raising standards in the New Zealand urban pest management industry. This programme will assist in developing effective responses to the changing legislative environment and the technical challenges of climate change, including the introduction of new pests and changed pest behaviour.
Given the comparatively small size of New Zealand’s pest management sector, PMANZ is purchasing the framework used by The British Pest Control Association; and then adapting it for New Zealand use.
It is estimated there are about 1,500 urban pest managers in New Zealand, a 50% growth in the last 10 years.
PMANZ are part-funding this workforce-wide initiative, which is expected to have a significant impact on the development of pest managers across the country. It will fill the current lack of a readily available pathway accessible to professional pest controllers in New Zealand to support their knowledge development beyond their original qualification.
